Soraya Marisel Martínez Ferrada is a Chilean-Canadian Liberal politician who has made significant contributions to public service. Born on 28 August 1972 in Santiago de Chile, province of Santiago, Chile, she is the daughter of Omar Martínez Prieto and Maritza Inés Ferrada Videla.
In 1980, Soraya Martínez Ferrada relocated to Canada and settled in the East End of Montreal. Inspired by a passion for making a positive impact in her community, she embarked on a career in politics.
Martínez Ferrada began her political journey as a city councillor for the Montreal City Council. She represented the municipal electoral district of Saint-Michel, first as a member of Union Montréal from 2005 to 2007, and later as a member of Vision Montreal from 2007 to 2009. During her tenure, she worked tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of her constituents, advocating for their interests at the municipal level.
