About Linda Lapointe

Linda Lapointe is the Liberal Member of Parliament for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles in Quebec. A businesswoman and longtime community leader, she first represented the riding from 2015 to 2019 and was returned to the House of Commons in the April 2025 federal election.

Born in Laval, Quebec, Lapointe holds a college diploma in health sciences from CEGEP Ahuntsic and, in 1986, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Université de Montréal. She began working in her father’s grocery store, Provigo Lapointe et Fille, as a teenager, became its store manager in 1988 and owned the business from 1997 until 2006.

Lapointe has long been active in her community and in her industry. She served as treasurer and board member of the Association des détaillants en alimentation du Québec from 2002 to 2006, and the association inducted her into its Hall of Fame in 2013. She was also president of the Regroupement des gens d’affaires of Boisbriand from 2009 to 2015 and has been an organizer of the Déjeuner de partage.

Her public service began in 2007, when she was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec for Groulx, serving as critic for economic development and the Montreal region and as assistant whip of the official opposition until 2008. Elected to the House of Commons in 2015, she sat on the Standing Committee on Official Languages and the Standing Committee on International Trade, introduced a private member’s bill on credit card acceptance fees, and served as Deputy Government Whip from 2018 to 2019.

Since returning to Parliament in 2025, Lapointe serves as president of the Liberal Women’s Caucus. She is a member of the Standing Committee on International Trade and the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics, where she serves as vice-chair.
