Biography

Vince Gasparro is a Canadian politician, non-profit leader, and former finance executive who has played a significant role in Ontario’s political landscape. A dedicated member of the Liberal Party of Canada, Gasparro was elected as the Member of Parliament for Eglinton—Lawrence in the 2025 Canadian federal election. His journey to public office was shaped by years of experience in government, investment banking, and community advocacy.

Born and raised in North York to Italian-Canadian parents, Gasparro has deep roots in the Eglinton—Lawrence community, where he resides with his wife and two daughters. His upbringing instilled in him a strong commitment to public service, economic development, and social progress. He pursued higher education at York University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He later obtained a Master of Science in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Villanova University. His academic background provided him with the expertise to navigate complex economic policies and advocate for sustainable growth.

Gasparro’s career in government and finance has been transformative. He served as a special assistant in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada under Paul Martin and later as principal secretary in the Office of the Mayor of Toronto under John Tory. His leadership in these roles reinforced his reputation as a dedicated public servant committed to responsible governance and economic stability.

Beyond government service, Gasparro worked in investment banking, specializing in acquisitions for Lynx Equity Limited from 2006 to 2018. He also held executive roles at Roynat Capital, Vancity, and AgriRoots Private Credit Fund, focusing on sustainable and clean energy finance. His expertise in financial management positioned him as a respected figure in Canada’s economic policy landscape.

Gasparro has been actively involved in non-profit leadership and community advocacy. In 2015, he founded Project Engagement, a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating short-term poverty while seeking long-term solutions for those facing economic hardship. The organization has provided meals and toys for children and, in one year, collected 40,000 kilograms of food for distribution. His commitment to social justice and community support has strengthened local initiatives and fostered resilience within the Eglinton—Lawrence riding.

His leadership extends to national and international policy discussions. Gasparro has served on the board of directors for several organizations, including Postmedia Network, the Canada Infrastructure Bank, WWF Canada, and Toronto Community Housing. He was also a member of Canada’s official delegation during COP26, COP27, and COP28, advocating for climate action and sustainable development.

Gasparro’s transition into federal politics was driven by his desire to bring a strong, community-focused voice to Ottawa. His campaign emphasized healthcare reform, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. His ability to connect with constituents and address their concerns positioned him as a strong advocate for responsible governance. Despite facing a competitive race against former Toronto city councillor and TTC chair Karen Stintz, he secured a decisive victory, succeeding Marco Mendicino.
