Kristina Tesser Derksen for Representative

Kristina Tesser Derksen is a Canadian lawyer, politician, and dedicated community leader who has made a significant impact in Ontario’s political landscape. A committed member of the Liberal Party of Canada, she was elected as the Member of Parliament for Milton East—Halton Hills South in the 2025 Canadian federal election. Her journey to public office was shaped by years of experience in municipal governance, legal advocacy, and grassroots activism.

Born and raised in Milton, Ontario, Tesser Derksen has spent her entire life giving back to the community she loves. She pursued higher education in history and political science before earning a law degree from the University of Toronto. Her legal career has been centered on providing service, running her own Main Street practice in downtown Milton, where she has worked to support families, businesses, and individuals navigating legal challenges.

Her political career began at the municipal level when she was elected as a town councillor for Milton’s Ward 1 in 2018. She was re-elected in 2022, earning a reputation as a strong advocate for local businesses, infrastructure development, and community engagement. Her leadership extended to various boards and committees, including the Milton Chamber of Commerce, Conservation Halton, the Townsend Smith Foundation, and the Milton Downtown Business Improvement Area. She also served on the Nassagaweya Community Consultation Committee and the Milton Quarry Community Advisory Committee, demonstrating her commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible urban planning.

Tesser Derksen’s transition into federal politics was driven by her desire to bring a strong, community-focused voice to Ottawa. In the 2025 federal election, she ran as the Liberal candidate for the newly established riding of Milton East—Halton Hills South. Initially declared defeated, a subsequent validation process confirmed her victory by a margin of 29 votes over Conservative candidate Parm Gill. Due to the narrow margin, an automatic judicial recount was triggered, and after a three-day review, her victory was confirmed with a revised margin of 21 votes.

Her tenure in Parliament continues to reflect her dedication to progressive policies, economic resilience, and community advocacy. She has focused on strengthening local infrastructure, supporting small businesses, and ensuring that families in Milton East—Halton Hills South have access to affordable housing and essential services. Her vision for Canada is one of inclusivity, sustainability, and opportunity, ensuring that future generations can thrive in a country that values responsible leadership and social equity.

Tesser Derksen’s contributions to both municipal and federal politics have positioned her as a prominent figure in Canadian public life. Her ability to connect with constituents, address their concerns, and champion policies that improve everyday life has made her a respected and influential leader in Ontario’s political landscape.
