Biography

Bruce Fanjoy is a Canadian politician, business leader, and community advocate who has made a significant impact in Ontario’s political landscape. A dedicated member of the Liberal Party of Canada, Fanjoy was elected as the Member of Parliament for Carleton in the 2025 Canadian federal election, unseating Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. His journey to public office was shaped by years of experience in business, marketing, and grassroots activism.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1964 or 1965, Fanjoy spent much of his early life in Saint John, New Brunswick, where his family had deep roots. His father, Emery Fanjoy, worked in government administration, which led the family to move to Fredericton and later Halifax, Nova Scotia. Fanjoy pursued higher education at Dalhousie University, earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University. His academic background provided him with the expertise to navigate complex economic policies and advocate for sustainable growth.

Fanjoy’s career in business and marketing has been transformative. He held leadership positions in several large companies, including serving as Director of Marketing at Deloitte. His professional success reinforced his reputation as a strategic thinker and a dedicated advocate for economic development. However, he later shifted his focus to family and community service, becoming a full-time parent to his two children and dedicating his energy to volunteer work.

Beyond his professional achievements, Fanjoy has been deeply involved in community advocacy. He has served as a board member for several local organizations, including the Manotick Village & Community Association, Habitat for Humanity, and Watson’s Mill Manotick. His leadership in these roles has strengthened local initiatives, fostering a sense of unity and resilience within the community. He has also been an active volunteer in youth sports, serving as Tournament Director for the 2014 All-Ontario Peewee AAA Championship and supporting local hockey programs.

Fanjoy’s transition into federal politics was driven by his desire to bring a strong, community-focused voice to Ottawa. His campaign emphasized economic development, climate action, healthcare investment, and affordability. His ability to connect with constituents and address their concerns positioned him as a strong advocate for responsible governance. Despite running against a high-profile incumbent, he secured a decisive victory, receiving over 50% of the votes in Carleton.
