Stephanie Veronica McLean is a Canadian politician and lawyer who has played a significant role in Alberta’s political landscape. She has served in both provincial and federal politics, advocating for progressive policies and community development.

Born on March 2, 1987, in Calgary, Alberta, McLean pursued higher education at Concordia University of Edmonton, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Calgary. Her legal background provided her with a strong foundation in governance, policy-making, and advocacy.

McLean’s political career began with her election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 2015 provincial election, where she represented Calgary-Varsity as a member of the Alberta New Democratic Party. Her tenure in the Alberta Legislature was marked by her commitment to gender equality, consumer protection, and modernizing government services. She made history as the first MLA in Alberta to give birth while in office, sparking discussions about maternity leave and family-friendly policies in the legislature.

During her time in provincial politics, McLean served as Minister of Status of Women and Minister of Service Alberta under Premier Rachel Notley.
