About Braeden Caley

Braeden Caley is the Liberal Member of Parliament for North Vancouver—Capilano in British Columbia. Born and raised in Richmond, British Columbia, he brings more than two decades of experience in Canadian politics and public policy to his role in Parliament.

Caley earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of British Columbia and an executive certificate in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. In 2016, he was named to BC Business’s Top 30 Under 30.

Caley began his career in a Member of Parliament’s constituency office and went on to serve as director of policy and communications for Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson. In 2016, he became senior director of communications for the Liberal Party of Canada, and he held senior roles on the Liberal campaigns in the 2015, 2019 and 2021 federal elections. He later led Canada 2020, a progressive public-policy think tank, as executive director and then as president and chief executive officer.

Caley served as campaign director for Mark Carney’s successful 2025 Liberal leadership campaign and as a national campaign co-director for the Liberal Party. After Carney became prime minister in March 2025, Caley was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Office, a position he held until July 2026.

Caley left the Prime Minister’s Office in July 2026 to seek the Liberal nomination in North Vancouver—Capilano following the departure of Jonathan Wilkinson, who was appointed Canada’s ambassador to the European Union. He was named the Liberal candidate on July 18 and was elected in the by-election held on August 31, 2026. He now represents the people of North Vancouver—Capilano in the House of Commons.
