The Honourable Tim Uppal is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Edmonton Gateway in Alberta. First elected to the House of Commons in 2008, he serves as Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, a role he has held since 2022 alongside Melissa Lantsman.

Uppal was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, and raised in Edmonton, in a Sikh family that emigrated from Punjab, India. He holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. From 1992 to 1997 he was executive producer and host of a radio show on CKER in Edmonton, and in 2004 he became a residential mortgage manager at TD Canada Trust.

Active in his community, Uppal founded and served as president of the South Edmonton Youth Group, sat on the Capital Health Community Health Council, was a member of the Sherwood Park Chamber of Commerce and the Sherwood Park Rotary Club, and was a founding member of the Edmonton Police Community Advisory Council.

Uppal was first elected for Edmonton—Sherwood Park in 2008. He served on the Standing Committees on Health and Canadian Heritage, and sponsored Bill C-442, which passed with unanimous support and led to the creation of the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa. In 2011 he was appointed Minister of State for Democratic Reform, becoming the first turban-wearing Sikh in the federal Cabinet, and in 2013 he became Minister of State for Multiculturalism.

After representing Edmonton Mill Woods from 2019, Uppal was elected in Edmonton Gateway in 2025. He has served as the Conservative caucus liaison and, since 2022, as Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party.

Uppal and his wife, Kiran, have three children.
